Jefferson, TX - Books Alive is back for our 6th year as a total fundraiser for The First United Methodist Church with a one of a kind event certain to strike your fancy and all for a great cause, our church‘s mission and outreach. We cordially invite all gentlewomen to AN EVENING WITH DEEANNE GIST, which will include a Victorian Dinner Party and Fashion Show by the author, Deeanne Gist herself at the historic Excelsior Hotel in Jefferson, Texas.
Deeanne will be giving her renowned presentation BOTTOMS UP: An Intimate Look at a Victorian Woman’s Undergarments which she presented at her GETAWAY WITH DEEANNE at The Biltmore in North Carolina, at the Romance Writer’s Convention, ROMCON, which have received international coverage, and most recently was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
6:30 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres will be served with Wassail punch
7:00 p.m. Followed by a Victorian Dinner prepared by the good ladies of the church.
8:00 pm. Deanne will begin her Victorian Fashion Show starting with her bloomers. She will add layer after layer from undergarments to dress to coat and hat for a full representation on how a proper Victorian lady was dressed for that time. All the clothing was custom designed and replicated in authentic detail and design for Deeanne so bring your cameras to capture Deeanne in her full Victorian glory!
9:00 p.m. Dessert will be served followed by a book signing. Deeanne will have her books for purchase including A Bride Most Begrudging, Beguiled, Maid to Match, and her latest book that will be released October 1, 2011, Love on the Line. Since her first book debut, her very original , very fun romances have rocketed up the bestseller lists and captured readers everywhere. Add to this two consecutive Christy Awards, three RITA nominations, rave reviews, and a growing loyal fan base, and you’ve got one recipe for success.
We would be honored to have you grace us with your presence and bring one of your feminine companions along as well and perhaps you might like to dress Victorian! Victorian costume is optional but a prize will be given by Deeanne herself for BEST VICTORIAN OUTFIT!
